Frequently Asked Questions 🐾

  • My dog food lasts 4-5 days in the refrigerator + up to 3 months in the freezer.

But just like with your food, you may get a few more days in the refrigerator especially if you put it in the refrigerator when it is still frozen.

I always say err on the side of caution + use common sense.

All of my homemade dog food varieties have a tag that tells you how long each item lasts.

  • Absolutely!

I have a great deal of customers who use my homemade food as a topper.

A topper helps motivate your dog to eat their meal especially when you follow my topper tips.

  • If you are using a 4 oz container - perfect size for a topper - I recommend taking the lid off + microwaving it for about 30 seconds if it was stored in the refridgerator. If it was stored in the freezer, I would recommend about one minute in the microwave.

If you don’t want to microwave it, in the container, you can also dump it into a microwave safe bowl + follow the same instructions above.

Fill your dog’s bowl with kibble or anything else you give them at meal time (think supplements, meds, etc) + then add my homemade food + mix it in well. You want the juices from my food to coat everything in the bowl so that your dog doesn’t just pick out my food + leave the rest behind.

  • Each food variety is carefully thought out with your dog’s health + wellness in mind.

Only dog safe ingredients are used.

However, I do not add any balancing agents/supplements to the food as all balancing agents + supplements are used based on each dog’s specific age, weight, or other factors.

I do offer the ability to have the discussion about having your dog’s food nutritionally balanced or supplements on my order form + I am always open to chatting about this at any time.

  • If your dog has a food allergy or sensitivity, I am happy to work with you to alter any of my dog food varieties to exclude those ingredients that your dog is allergic or sensitive to + assure the recipe is a well-rounded delicious recipe.

  • This depends on the size container you purchase, how you are using it when feeding your dog as well as age, weight + activity level.

This is something we can discuss in more detail before or after you place your order.

  • The best way to defrost my homemade dog food is to defrost it slowly in the refrigerator. This does take a little more forethought as you will need to pull it out of the freezer at least a day before you plan on using it.

If you need to defrost it faster, you can leave it out on the counter but be sure to keep an eye on it as you do not want it to be out too long as it is fresh ingredients with no preservatives.

If you are in a hurry, you can run hot water over it until it is defrosted enough that you can get out what you need for the next meal.

Microwaving is also an option for defrosting but you want to defrost in 3-5 minute intervals until you have enough food that is not frozen to feed for the meal.

  • Yes, if you would like your order to be freshly cooked food I can do that. But please be mindful that the shelf life in the refrigerator is only 4-5 days so it will need to be picked up or delivery same day for you to be able to repackage.

Freshly cooked food that is not frozen will need a longer lead time than cooked then frozen food as I do work full time so freshly cooked food typically needs to be cooked + picked up or delivered on the weekend.

Homemade Dog Food FAQs

  • Some of my treats need to be stored in the freezer, some in the refrigerator + others are safe to be stored in an airtight container for a specific amount of time.

Blueberry Bites are best kept frozen since they are made with yogurt + will lose shape + consistency if not kept frozen.

Apple Peanut Butter Bites, Banana Peanut Butter Bites, Crunchy Peanut Butter Balls + Mint Morsels should be kept refrigerated at minimum.

Pumpkin Butter Biscuits + Sweet Pawtato Chips can be kept in an airtight container for a few weeks but have a longer shelf life when refrigerated + even more so when frozen.

All of my homemade dog treats come with a tag that tells you how long each item lasts + the best way to store them.

  • Dogs typically aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients in my treats. However, if your dog is allergic to any of the ingredients, I’m happy to come up with a treat that works for their allergies or sensitivities.

Homemade Dog Treat FAQs

  • Yes!

I offer FREE delivery for anyone within 5 miles of my home. After 5 miles, you are charged $1 per mile from my home to yours. You are only charged for the mileage to your home, not the mileage for my return drive. I will provide you with the delivery price when I confirm your order + the order cost.

Delivery is available weeknight evenings + typically any time on Saturdays or Sundays.

  • Yes!

Pickup is available any time, any day of the week.

If I am not going to be home during pickup, I will leave your items in a cooler with ice packs on my porch before I leave.

I also offer pickup at the local events I am a vendor at so if you place your order prior to the event, you can choose the event as your pickup location if that is more convenient for you.

  • At the current time, I do not offer shipping as an option when you order.

Shipping costs can be very high + vary widely due to location, the weight of the package since the food would need to be shipped frozen which means dry ice + extra packaging materials.

However, if you’d like me to price out shipping for you, I am happy to do so.

Delivery, Pickup + Shipping FAQs

  • The absolute best way to contact me is via my cell phone (215-350-9578) either via text or phone call. If you call me during business hours (M-F 9am-5pm), I may return your call via text as that is easier for me while I am work.

You can always email me at daniellesdoggiestyle@gmail.com, fill out a contact form here on the site or message me on social media as well.

But if you want the quickest response a text to my cell is the way to go!

  • I currently do not offer a subscription service as I do not want my customers to feel locked into anything.

I do offer a Paw Points Rewards Program which rewards you for every dollar you spend without locking you into a subscription.

I am also happy to set up a specific date of the month where you can have your food or treat orders delivered or picked up each month so you don’t have to worry about running out + know ahead of time when you’ll get your next order. If you’d like to set that up, just let me know!

  • Absolutely not!

My food + treats are made to be super safe for your pup.

The flavors + colors in my food are all naturally derived from the ingredients I use.

Since I do not use preservatives, you will find the shelf life on my products to be less than products you’ll find commercially. But I would rather offer healthier options with a shorter shelf life than options that last forever + are full of junk.

  • Payment is expected at time of order confirmation.

After you fill out the order form, I will reach out to you via text or email to confirm your order, get any additional information I may need, answer your questions + give you the total for your order.

Once we have confirmed your order + pickup or delivery date then payment can be sent.

  • I accept cash, Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay, Zelle or CashApp payments.

I currently do not accept credit cards due to all the fees associated with being able to process credit card payments. At this point in my small business journey, it just doesn’t benefit either of us for me to take credit card payments.
