Keep Calm + Wag On: Firework Safety Tips For Your Pups

Danielle's Doggie Style - Dog hiding from fireworks

The 4th of July + summer celebrations are full of fun, food, + fireworks, but for our furry friends, all that booming + crackling can be terrifying. At Danielle’s Doggie Style, we believe every dog deserves to feel safe, calm, + loved especially when the skies light up.

Here are some simple but important ways to keep your dogs safe + stress-free during firework season:

🎆 1. Create a Safe Space

Set up a cozy, quiet spot where your dogs can retreat. A crate with their favorite blanket, a small room with soft music, or even your closet can be a great sanctuary. Make sure it's away from windows + loud noises.

🔒 2. Keep Them Indoors

Even dogs with fenced yards should be kept inside when fireworks are going off. A scared dog may try to dig, climb, or squeeze through anything to escape the noise.

🐾 3. Use Calming Aids

  • Try calming treats or CBD (consult your vet first)

  • Use a calming shirt or wrap to provide gentle pressure

  • Play white noise, calming music, or TV to mask the sounds

🆔 4. Double-Check Identification

If your dog does escape, proper ID can help them return home quickly. Make sure their collar tags are up to date + consider a microchip if they don’t already have one.

🐕 5. Don’t Leave Dogs Alone Outside or in the Car

Even for “just a minute,” the sound of fireworks can send a dog into a panic. Keep them with you in a controlled environment.

Remember: What’s festive for us can be frightening for them. With a little preparation, you can make sure your dog feels secure + loved, no matter how loud the celebration gets.

💚 From our kitchen to your fur family…stay safe, stay calm, + give those good boys + girls a little extra love this weekend!
